“Making a stand for our lives”

During Orientation every incoming freshman received a book. “My Beloved World”, by Sonia Sotomayor. This was not any ordinary book, but a book about how some ones struggles and pains can bring them so far. I can say this book was well written and touching. This book always had the reader on the edge of their seat wondering what could happen next. The struggle that Sonia Sotomayor had to undergo growing up was just amazing that someone could come out so strong.
I believe this book was chosen as a Common Read for my class because this book tells about some persons struggles can take them far. In the book it talked about all the struggles and setbacks she had faced and look where she is now. These setbacks and struggles can bring someone to the top of the world and achieve. One thing that I as well as my pairs can apply to our first year of college from the book is that no matter what happens you can overcome anything. No matter how big or how small if you fight and stand up for what you believe you can win at anything. Everyone in their first year of college runs into problems but if you believe hard enough you can face it.

For me one thing that I have had to experience was putting myself to the test. When I say this I mean pushing myself to the limit was I know I should be. It wasn’t easy at first and I’m pretty sure that almost everyone can agree on this that adjusting to a different surrounding isn’t so easy. After reading this book I can say it will help you face and win over you struggles. I would say this book is great for every incoming student to read.
